Responsibilities:

As a Game Designer on Bubble Mania my main focuses were Level Creation, Level Tuning, Release Coordination, and Documentation

Level Creation:

There are currently over 700 levels in the game. During my six months on the title, I created over 60 levels, each of them unique in feel and look. I was able to keep them at a high quality and cadence through attending many Level Reviews.

I would receive feedback in these Level Reviews and make adjustments to my levels so they would be challenging and fun while still feeling fresh.

Level Tuning:

After the levels I created went live for player enjoyment, it was my responsibility to tune those levels so they stayed within our departments desired difficulty range. I would achieve this by tweaking level layouts and bubble counts.

I also tuned over 400 levels that had previous gone live. As new players pass through sections of the game, the winrates would change. I would make sure the winrates continued to meet the player skill levels.

Release Coordination:

In order to make sure new levels went out on time and correctly, I was tasked with coordinating the release. Those tasks included art outsourcing requests, setting up the database, working closely with QA and RM, and documenting the release.

Documentation:

I was in charge of creating One Pagers and Specs to document features that were considered for the release pipeline. One Pagers and Specs were reviewed by Game Design Leads, Engineers, Producers, and Product Managers. I would then revise these documents.

Post Mortem:

I joined the Bubble Mania team after expressing a strong passion for bubble shooters. While I was working on Candy Blast Mania, I took the time to learn how to create and analyze levels in Bubble Mania as well as other bubble shooter match 3s.

After working closely with several Puzzle Designers on Candy Blast Mania, I went to work as the sole designer on Bubble Mania. My time being the primary of this game was extremely valuable and fun. I enjoyed being an acting lead on the title while still communicating and coordinating with the rest of the Puzzle Team on my game as well as theirs.
