Responsibilities:

As a Game Designer on Bubble Mania my main focuses were Level Creation, Level Tuning, Spec Writing, and Narrative.

Level Creation:

Panda Pop has over 10000 levels, and I created over 400 of them!

Together with the team, I would create, review, and revise levels before releasing them to live for players to enjoy.

Level Tuning:

I tuned levels on a micro-scale and macro-scale. Micro-scale tuning involved editing existing levels by making changes to the design and obstacles. Marco scale tuning was performed using analytics to tune large level bands to find their ideal performance through iteration.

These tuning changes increased not only level performance but overall player enjoyment.

Spec Writing:

Creating new features and events was achieved through writing pitches or one-pagers, fleshing out those concepts into a full-blown spec that provides clear design, flow, and requests for the stakeholders to follow. This lead to the creation of features like win streaks and panda portal.

In addition, I also helped create storyboards and questionnaires to run by our players to get proper insights into what they desire to see in our game.

Narrative:

I was responsible for writing the narrative copy on Panda World, a narrative feature of Panda Pop. I was involved in the early creative process of planning out the long-term story and then tasked with breaking it down into arcs each with its own set of lands. I also had to relay our vision to the Art team and give them proper direction so they could create the assets for Panda World.

I also occasionally lent my narrative skills to the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery team to help them write some of their lessons.

Post Mortem:

I joined the Panda Pop team back in 2017 as an Associate Game Designer and have been there ever since, growing and becoming more experienced over the years and achieving the rank of Senior Game Designer.

Panda Pop now has a better in-level experience, more exciting features and events, and an even more compelling story. I have been and advocate for the player since day one and I am proud of the growth the game has accomplished over its many years.
